Thanks Joy, I will start really low I think, we had a step thing like a childs stool to start Cass was utterly dumbfounded and tried everything she could think of without putting her feet on it!! She's used to a placeboard but that's the wrong shape for pivoting.

    Dog Club

Haha, that's so lovely! Thank you, yes, I will have a look at the link. The first thing for me to do is find a low object for her to be comfortable putting her front feet on! Yes it is! I never enjoyed "conventional" training classes with her - we were always in the naughty corner. It's great...

    Dog Club

I often wish I could just take Cass out for a bimble, but I am constantly on guard for scavenging. Due to this, I find that 10 minutes or so of "training" games is much more beneficial for us.!

    Dog Club

Yes, I do feel really lucky. They didn't start up until Cass was almost 2, I only wish they were here when she was a puppy! They are lovely, they genuinely love all the dogs and are so friendly and very knowlegeable. It is run by a husband and wife and I think they now employ 3 other...

    Dog Club

So, back in the summer Cassie and I did a 4 week session of Dog Club at our wonderful local dog training school. I can't speak highly enough of them, they really are so good! We did scent club with them back last winter and while very good I felt we couldn't take it any further -- for one Cass...

How did you choose your dog’s name?

Cassies mother is called Tia (Maria), she was born on a farm called Sherrington, has sister called Sherry and another one called Bailey who lives in a pub. Some local blackcurrant producers had a promotional event for their Cassis when I was considering having a Black Lab puppy . It all just...

Yes, I remember folk doing that too. I've just bought some "broncho bits" , high value reward for Cass, got me thinking of big pans of "lights" on Agas.

I've just realised that makes it sound like Mum was a bad cook, which she definitely wasn't! That dog loved her and was utterly devoted to her. She couldn't go to the bathroom without he'd lie outside the door waiting for her to come back out! :hearteyesdog:

Yes, I know, it was commonplace wasn't it? Our family spaniel was fed scraps with Winalot. I think he had a tin of Chappie on a Sunday ! I don't believe he saw a vet until the day he died aged 14 and a half. But, in those days My mother cooked for 7 everyday, and there were scraps to be had...

    What made you smile today?

My boy is 30 today (oh yes ok, he's a man now, but you know how it is), he's working this weekend in his lorry as he has organised a party next weekend and he's busy keeping the supermarkets of Yorkshire well stocked for Christmas so time off is at a premium. BUT his lovely girlfriend has gone...
