Anxiety medication

Today was gundog training. I never have high hopes for Toffee's behaviour, it usually veers between silliness, lack of concentration and anxious twig eating, and I often come home wondering whether there’s any point in persevering.
Today he was unbelievably good. From the minute we arrived I managed to get, and keep, his attention. Apart from a couple of times when his attention wandered (and then I realised he wanted a drink) and once when he obviously didn’t understand what he was supposed to do, so I changed how I was approaching the exercise, he was brilliant.

I am very, very pleased with him, and he has come home really tired from all the concentration rather than hyped up with excitement as is the norm. I don’t know whether we’ve turned a corner or whether it’s a one off, but I’m really hoping I’m a lot more tuned in to what he needs after my efforts over the last few weeks.
