Can't highlight text

At the moment for some reason I can't reply to highlighted text on a thread, as soon as I have clicked on reply it takes me back to the top of the page. It will let me reply to the whole message. @snowbunny or anyone got any ideas why this may be happening?
I probably should add that there was a recent upset with my laptop,involving, well, there's no other way to say this, a red wine spillage. On the keyboard. But following a strip down it is now operating normally in all other respects.

Hmm, sorry, I don't know off the top of my head. What web browser are you using? Have you tried a different browser to see if you get the same behaviour (Chrome/FireFox etc?)

Looks like changing browser is the answer! Tried Chrome instead of Microsoft Edge, which is what Windows 10 prefers apparently, it looks like I can highlight specific quotes.

I can, although it’s fiddly - if you hold your finger on a word it should come up with a ‘select/select all’ option you can click on.

Yes, I can. As @HAH says, hold your finger down on a word until it highlights, then you can drag the little blue blobs to make your selection.
