Dandruff

Ella has really bad dandruff at the moment. She's not particularly itchy so her cytopoint hasn't worn off. However she's shedding so much hair and is super flakey.

I'm wondering if it's the new environment and warmer weather.

I'm going to take her to the beach soon so she'll have a good swim, which generally loosens any excess hair. I'll give her a brush later and thinking I might get some fish oil for her too.

Any other ideas? Is it vet worthy?

I'd probably call the vet as a precaution
Well, as fate would have it, we're off to the vet this afternoon as Ella has hurt her leg 😢

She was a little stiff on her back right leg when we got home from the beach but seemed to be OK after she'd had a bit of a rest. Then, someone came to the door so she turned on the spot and immediately lifted her leg up in the air and hasn't put it down since 🙁

She's quite relaxed so it's not causing obvious pain but she doesn't want to put any weight on it. I'm so worried.

I forgot to ask about the dandruff 🤦

Her right back knee is sore. Possibly a sprain, likely minor cruciate ligament damage. Definitely not ruptured as she was walking well by the time we got to the vet.

Rest and ant inflammatories for two weeks and then we reassess. If she's damaged it, the likelihood of full rupture increases.

Do you give her salmon oil Emily?
Found this on line

Is salmon oil good for dogs?
Salmon oil is such a marvel because of its wonder-trio of fatty acids: Omega 3, 6 and 9. These powerful ingredients are really beneficial to your dog's body and mind; they promote healthier skin and coat quality, improved heart health, and they boost immune system, brainpower and movement.

Poor Ella’s leg, keeping fingers and paws crossed that she makes a full recovery in the next 2 weeks. How much rest does she need, no off lead? And the dandruff is quite a lot (although shows up more in darker coats!) - I reckon it could be the changes in environment, maybe a bit of stress related to the move? Your ideas sound really good, plus lots of decompression activities - hopefully that’ll clear up along with the limp.

Hoping that Ella's limp clears up quickly, ditto the dandruff. Sometimes Poppy gets very dry skin and fur; I give her fish oil and buy her expensive B vitamin supplements that seem to help quite quickly.
