FDSA Workshop

This week I'm doing an online Fenzi Dog Academy Workshop called 'Seven Days to Super Focus', by Deborah Jones, I've got an auditor's spot which means you get the instructional video, can ask questions and watch submitted videos from other people and view their feedback but not submit your own video. Auditor's spot cost $29.95 - so about £23.

When I watched the video for the first time I felt a bit disappointed as I felt that I already do the exercises described. However, as I'd paid for the course, I worked through them anyway and actually I now feel really pleased at our progress. I think having the exercises laid out in a very methodical way and planning more carefully than usual what I was going to do helped a lot. A friend and I have booked a slot at a training hall for Monday so I'm going to use them as warm-up exercises there. It's a few more days until the instructor gives feedback to people with working spots but I hope that should be useful too.

The workshop is mainly intended for people doing dog sports, but actually I think that anyone with a pet dog who is a bit of a butterfly when out and about and who would like to build more engagement would benefit from doing this workshop.

I worked through them anyway
This is a huge thing! I've done a lot of FDSA courses and there are certainly times when I don't entirely buy in, or think "we can already do that", but going through the process that is laid out is never a bad thing. Even if it really is just refreshing things you already do, thinking about them again with that extra bit of focus is something I find really useful. Sometimes the smallest nuance makes a big difference.

I'm glad you've found it useful.

I haven't done any of this! And here are my GoodGirl and I heading off for the camp in May! Should I start swatting up do you think, or shall we just GI with the flow and see what happens?

I certainly don't think there's any need for you to do any preparation unless you want to! After all it's a training camp we're going to, not a competition. I just rather enjoy thinking about dog training - makes a change from all the children's education I've spent time thinking about over the years.

Thanks Joy,
That's Joy the person, rather than my GGJ. I think I will just go with the flow. After all my Joy and I aren't looking at entering any competitions or anything, we just want to love each other and have lots of fun together, which already happens. More tips will no doubt be picked up though and I'm sure we'll have a good time. However, I have to admit that my main motivation for attending is purely selfish....... I just want to meet you all:clap::happyfeet:
