Goonlaze Cottage, St Agnes, Cornwall

#1
We've just had a week in this cottage so we thought that a write-up would be helpful.

Location: The cottage is located at the edge of St Agnes with two pubs, a Chinese restaurant (& takeaway), and two cafes clustered around a mini roundabout within a two minute walk. The center of St Agnes is ten minutes walk, and includes two general stores, a chemist, a bakery and various other shops. A quiet road leads from the mini roundabout to the beach & coast path.

Travel: The cottage has a dedicated off-road parking place that will take two small cars or one large car. Buses to Truro, Newquay and a seasonal bus along the coast run past the cottage and stop at the mini roundabout.

Outside: Four steps lead from the parking bay to a gated terrace in front of the cottage. Another flight of steps leads up from the terrace to the garden gate. The garden is large and secure and includes a decking with a picnic table. The view from the decking is very nice.

Inside: Its a deceptively big cottage, and the layout is a little unusual as the door into the garden is upstairs! The front door leads into a well-equipped kitchen with a good sized kitchen table. Next to this is a dining room with a farmhouse table that can easily sit six people. There's plenty of room to walk around the table. Off the dining room is a spacious bedroom with two single beds, and the family bathroom. Stairs lead from the dining room to a landing and the large upstairs lounge with two sofas. Double doors lead from the lounge to the decking in the garden. The main bedroom (with a rather small en-suite) is off the landing. Floors are tiled on the ground floor and laminate on the upper floor with wooden stairs. It's easy to clean spills but can be a bit slippery for dogs.

General: There's loads of space for four people and dogs. I really do mean loads -all the rooms are a good size except the en-suite. The idea of having the lounge and garden entrance upstairs really confused Holly as she's used to going downstairs to be let into the garden. The parking bay is on a bend in the road, which has a 20mph limit, Not everyone observes the speed limit so pulling out can be exciting. Having the bus stops so close made it very easy to get the bus up the coast and walk back along the coast path.

Overall this is a very good cottage and we'd recommend it very highly. It features on google maps:
