It's strangely and quite eerily quiet here tonight, very foggy and NO WIND!
I don't think I'd realised how accustomed I've become to the sound of the wind blustering around the house and down the chimney and it feels somehow wrong without it, as if the soundtrack's missing! At least I can still hear the fire though, and Joy snoring and no doubt the wind will be back before long.πŸŒͺπŸ’¨

Woke up thismorning to find that the fog is still here. Joy went outside briefly, then straight back to bed. I'm not sure which is going to be the best walk to do in this, it's really quite eerie!View attachment 40201View attachment 40202
I hate fog, it makes me feel claustrophobic. I hope it has lifted by now?

I am sitting here all snugged up and warm with the wonderful gifts you sent me, they have made such a difference.

I eventually decided to head up to Norland, as it's often high enough to be above the fog level. It was today, there were some spectacular views of the fog in the valley bottom and I think just about every dog and hooman we know who lives down there had the same idea as us and had taken to the hills. It made for a very sociable walk, which we both really enjoyed.20240210_103532.jpg20240210_104810.jpg20240210_111733.jpg20240210_111825.jpg

After that terrible heat and humidity, we copped a turnaround tail of cyclone Kirrily that travelled all the way down through central-eastern Australia to the coast and blew it all away. We've had cool, windy days all week and I know I love the heat but this is bliss. I even pulled a thin blanket up sleeping last night. Heat is back tomorrow but hopefully not as bad

Yikes, Cairns in Feb is definitely intolerable. You need to move from one air-conditioned room/building to another. It is the only thing putting us off from Moving to Magnetic Island in a year or so. We were there in December which is nowhere near as bad as Feb and it was pretty awful.

We had a super humid summer in Sydney - the most humid ever I heard - and it was terrible too!
