Bear is pain free now.

Tonight Bear, after a painful episode was laid to sleep' He has been with us for nearly 20 years and was a mad little thing until about 2 years ago when he began to slow down and get ill. He has taken a huge part of my heart with him but I know he isn't ill or in pain anymore.
I love you little man. Run free now.

Thank you all. It all happened very suddenly and I am just so pleased with the vet's handling of him at the end. She was kind and so very caring. He fell asleep in oh's arms and was being stroked and cuddled to the end.
Yes, we are crying but we are also remembering the silly things he did which made us laugh.
He loved us and we did the best we could I hope.
