Hello from a newbie!

This is my first time on any forum and i'll admit to feeling like it's our first day at a new school/job, so a rather nervous hello from Cooper and myself. Cooper is our first family dog and he will be a big, grown up 2 years old on 26 Feb, though I have a feeling he has no intentions of being grown up ever.

Since last summer he has suffered from bad allergies and we are about to start a food elimination diet with him. His progress so far - he has just snorted a piece of the kibble & spat it out with a look of total disgust on his face, so I have a feeling it is going to be a very long trial period. I'm feeling totally out of my depth and hoping this site will provide laughter and friendship to make the days brighter, and any advice, hints or tips will be gratefully received.

He does do a death stare very well.

Hello Sally and Cooper.
A warm welcome from me and Lilly in this mad little corner of the internet.!
I'm not particularly expert on allergies but several of our members (I should say their dogs!) Are bothered.
Is it skin issues or digestive issues that Cooper has?
I know that the advice is to use a single protein source, and single carb. Like lamb and potato for instance. I also know that chicken is a big cause of allergies. Something in the way it is processed.

Lilly is my black girl and is 10.5 years old. My daughter @Sophiedoodle is also on here with her Australian Labradoodle called Oreo. We live in Scotland.
I hope you like our little family here.

Ooooh! A new person joining us, how lovely! A big warm welcome from me and my little three year old black Lab Joy, aka GGJ ( shortpaw for GoodGirlJoy) because she just is. We're a funny little lot here, but ever so friendly and supportive. It's good to have new members and I do hope you'll stay with us.:smiledog:

Hi from myself and Quinn, 5 years old in Ontario Canada! Quinn has both digestive issues and seasonal allergies - fingers crossed that the elimination diet helps! We found that a single novel protein diet and probiotics settled her issues (after a hypo diet period) and even helped slightly with her itching.

Welcome and hi from Honey (just over 2) Vanilla (nearly 5) and me (just over....) from the land downunder.
Friendly group even if there is some mention of madness on here at times, just ignore.
Allergies are never easy and like @Jacqui-S mentioned is it skin or digestive?

Hi there! Welcome to our cosy corner of the inter web! Great to have you aboard. Feel free to ask questions and join in the madness. I live in Alberta, Canada with Simba, LabX.
My last pooch had itchiness and gastral issues from food allergies. Tried a non-chicken based kibble and problem solved! Hope you are able to get to the bottom of Cooper’s issues.

Welcome Sally and gorgeous Cooper from myself, Robyn, and our mad 3 year old Maxx. We are in Sydney Australia

Maxx has itchy skin and we bath him regularly with Malaseb and also apply a skin conditioner made from oatmeal and ceramides to his elbows, underarms and groin area a few times per week and this all seems to help.

This is a fun and very supportive forum. Please download anything anytime

Hello Sally and Cooper. Welcome to the forum from me Alison and my 4 year old Labrador Red. This is a lovely supportive caring place to come. Red has had digestive problems as a puppy and last year had an allergy(?) which took a bit of sorting. Really helped to be able to post here ❤

Hi Sally and Cooper 👋 - I’m Harriet and I have Kipper, a yellow lab who’s just over 3 yrs old and an excellent companion.
This is my first (and only) forum too, and by Jiminy it’s a supportive, funny and definitely sometimes lunatic place to be. There’s also a lot of gentle expertise on here, I’m sure you’ll find it useful. You’re very welcome indeed!

Good morning Sally, lovely to have you join us, Cooper is a super handsome boy. This is my only Forum too, and I have Cassie who is rising 5 years old.

I hope MLF can help provide the answers for his allergies, and that you stay around to enjoy the fun and friendship here too.

Hello Sally and Cooper, I’m glad you’ve found us. I’m not a forum person either - this is the only one I’m on and it’s a lovely place to be. I hope you enjoy being here and find some help with Cooper’s allergies too.

Don’t expect Cooper to grow up any time soon! Labradors are brilliant at almost everything except growing up!

Hi and welcome from Annemarie and Finn. We are Dutch and live in the Netherlands. Finn is 7 years old and still doesn’t act as a grown up.....He is our 3rd yellow lab. I don’t have experience with allergies in dogs, but much more experienced in allergies in humans...
Cooper is a very handsome boy, and what a stare he has!!
