I suspect Poppy may be taking weed behind my back!

Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. Sorry for the delay - been tied up over the last few days. I think she picked up a deer scent because I had another "incident" yesterday when she did a "wander" into a standing crop of field beans and wouldn't recall. A Roe deer emerged! I got...

I suspect Poppy may be taking weed behind my back!

I'm a bit at a loss on this one. Having crowed about her being on a short gundog training advertising video, the sweet lamb did a runner yesterday afternoon. It could have gone horribly wrong. In short, on the way back from our afternoon walk I let her go for a swim in the river. When she...

    Poppy film star!

I have to confess at this point that the video only shows the upside! There are still the odd times when she runs off with the dummy. Also she thinks the problem through too much so if I want her to stop, although she can do it perfectly well, she ignores the whistle and says "Well there are...

    Poppy film star!

Our trainer, Judy, has just posted a promotional video on Facebook but it features the little yellow pocket rocket a lot. She looks much better on the video than real life :giggl: . Thanks to Oscar for making this reel | By Whip Curl Canine Resolve | Facebook

Just transitioning Poppy to a raw diet

Thanks all for the feedback. Much appreciated. Early days, but I'd say Poppy is enjoying the new diet. She also seems more lively out and about on walks. It could be just the cooler weather at the moment, but I don't think so.

Just transitioning Poppy to a raw diet

The Pop Dog started to turn her nose up at kibble so I've been having a look at feeding raw. Out trainer, Judy, feeds her dogs (Irish water spaniels) a 70/30 diet and my son feeds his dog pretty much 100% raw with just a few biscuits and a couple of vegetable cubes added. We happen to have a...

Living with Poppy - June 23

Hi Anne, Sounds like a plan! We had a lovely time. We drove, stopping overnight in Gent which we like and then getting to Apeldoorn the next day stopping at Amersfoort to charge the car. We had lunch at the hotel where the chargers were and I made the mistake of ordering an uitsmijter...

Living with Poppy - June 23

Judy is a positive trainer and the Pop Dog absolutely adores her, but she needs very firm and on the ball handling. Wishy-washy commands just fail. Poppy is pretty much faultless when Judy is handling her. I always have problems and it may be to do with our early days with Poppy and dealing...

Living with Poppy - June 23

Hello everyone. Been banging my head against a hard object for a while so I have missed out on everyone's news. Hope all well. Poppy is 3 1/2 now and is a real constant in our lives maturing into a really lovely dog. Most of the "issues" have evaporated now with only one dog that she hates...

    Pet Insurance

Many Pets has paid already! The payment went to my bank just a few hours after the claim yesterday evening. Amazing,

    Pet Insurance

We're with Many Pets as well and Poppy is currently £42.43 per month ie £509.16 per annum which I didn't think was too bad considering Lady ended up over £1300 per annum towards the end. I've just put my first claim in as well so it will be interesting to see how they deal with it. £274.86 to...

    Weather

-7 and a bit this morning. Had to scream NO! at Poppy to stop her going on the ice of the partially frozen river. What temperature would give cause for concern re walking a Labrador? Googling is a bit vague on the subject but I'm guessing pretty cold because of the Canadian heritage.
