Paw injuries are the worst! My border collie had a paw wound one time requiring all of the palaver you have described and that, plus all the restrictions on walks, resulted in a depressed dog that hid under my bed most of the day by the time it ended. But, you’ll be glad to know he bounced back...

Wow that’s a lot to think about, but I can see it could make sense. Glad you have a vet that brought this up now, before it’s an urgent thing, to give you time to think it through. And maybe you’ll never have to make that decision!
