    Tuppence and the smoke alarm

Jubilee also worries about smoke alarms. She jumps in my lap if one goes off and she hates the beeps. She gets weird when Rick takes one down to change the batteries, so I usually take her for a walk. It’s funny because she has always been a brave and confident dog - only smoke alarms and the...

    What made you smile today?

Closed up my sister’s camp for the winter. We have lots of happy memories of our three dogs playing together and enjoying the new boat.

    Need multi dog training advice

The leap frog game has been a big success. It was a nice, quiet game to play inside on a very rainy day. Jubilee has the most trouble - she usually comes the first few times I call Phoebe. They have some similar sounds in their names. She never comes when I call Kiah.

    What made you smile today?

The three friends inspecting their new kayak. It was chosen so a dog could fit in the rear storage area.

    Need multi dog training advice

That’s what we are doing now. They are very good about taking treats nicely even when they are crowded together. I have been lax with Jubilee’s training with our visitors here. She likes to learn new things and I was trying to come up with something the whole gang could do. I’ve always...

    Need multi dog training advice

This summer, we have two labs visiting Jubilee. It has been surprisingly very successful. Jubilee is much calmer and listens well around the other dogs. I would like to be able to call one dog and not have all three of them come. Any suggestions how to train this? I tried last night, and it...

Seems to work for charging dogs

I’ve also found it to be highly successful on my own crazed, adolescent dog. Jubilee used to get over excited and charge at me and bite my arms . It was very upsetting and nothing worked until I used this technique. I was pleasantly shocked when it worked the first time. Now, it works for...

    Guide Dogs and Puppies

There use to be one in Ellsworth that would show up in the grocery store. It was always startling to see clip-clopping down the aisles. It was tiny, not much larger than a good sizes lab.

    Rourke is ill

I heard a podcast about CBD (no THC) oil and that it helped dogs with arthritis. A lot of older people in Maine are starting to use for their arthritis.

    Mystery in the dog yard

The fence seems to keep out most animals except birds and squirrels. Yesterday she was going down to the far end of the yard to go. Today, we had three inches of snow, so she’s going on the deck. This afternoon’s poo was exciting. I let her in and she had a dangling poo (dried grass) hanging off...

    Mystery in the dog yard

Her yard is mostly grass, but it is dormant now and somewhat muddy. Last week, before all the snow and ice disappeared, she would only walk around the edges where there was some remaining snow. I’m beginning to think the urine smell from her pee area is bugging her. We had lots of snow all...

    Mystery in the dog yard

Jubilee has a nice, large fenced in area. She has used it for doing her business, playing fetch and training for four years. We clean up after her every day. Just recently the snow and ice have melted off, leaving it slightly muddy. She doesn’t want to go out in the yard! Nothing scary has...
