I think I've read just about every puppy book this year and there is always something I don't like although some are worse than others.

My favourite 'puppy' books nowadays are Patricia McConnell's Puppy Primer and Daniel Mills and Helen Zulch's Life Skills for Puppies. For basic training I think it is hard to beat Jean Donaldson's Train your dog like A Pro with excellent step by step guides for training and rewarding pup, and owner.

DogFest in Hertfordshire this weekend was cancelled yesterday because of the weather. A very sensible decision.

I'm w I'm with you. I woukd never leave a dog in a car - even for a few minutes and I won't attend teaining where dogs have to be in cars for part of it.

She is the very worst type of trainer. Cruel and nasty and posing as using 'positive' methods which brings us all into disrepute :mad:. I couldn't possibly put into words what I would like to do to her and her methods. So pleased that you have left this nasty woman behind.

While lazing on my sunbed in Italy my mind hasn't completely switched off from dogs, training and behaviour and particularly liked this post on Facebook

Sounds as if you had a great session with a really good instructor. Videoing yourself and being critical helps to identify our failings but it really helps to have expert input, even if it's infrequent because of distance.
