It's pretty hot today, so we had our walk early and are now having a sit down for a while. The house is lovely and cool and the garden is pleasantly shadyapart from this very small spot which is exactly where a certain nine year old black dog has chosen to lie, panting from time to time.🙄

Lovely to see Merlin looking so happy there! Joy still enjoys playing, we just stop sooner than we used to. I think most Labradors are quite playful.

A friend and I went to a Makers' Market at Harlow Carr ( beautiful gardens open to the public) yesterday. We had a nice lunch there, but decided against trying the Children Sandwiches and had the cheese and pickle instead. Well, she is a vegetarian!🤣

Joy and I met a gorgeous young black spaniel on our walk thismorning. His name is Spook, because he was born on 31st October. This made me smile a lot, what a brilliant name! He was of course totally mad, as young spaniels are, and Joy liked him very much immediately.(She always likes Spaniels❤️)

Hope he feels better tomorrow. He'll probably feel more like himself once the anaesthetic is properly out of his system.

I'm so glad they've found the cause and sorted it out. Hopefully he'll soon be back to normal. I can't help but think though that perhaps vets should have a standard protocol for all Labradors presenting with Oddy's symptoms, 'Investigate for possible intestinal blockage', given their tendancy...

Oh dear, poor Oddy and poor you for the worry. I wonder if he's got an intestinal blockage of some sort. Solstice had similar symptoms once and the vet found a 14cm 'rope' of twisted grass inside her. Once it was removed she recovered well. I do hope the investigations show something similarly...
