Another poo thread...

Ever since Ella was sick, she's had a bit of a poo issue. She's been back on kibble for just over a week (we haven't given her anything else at all as we've been waiting for her to be 100. She's happy and normal in herself.

However, every other day she's having runny poo. One day it will be a perfect poo and the next it's back to yellow and runny and then back to perfect again. I just can't figure it out.

The vet is closed until Tuesday now (it's a long weekend here for Australia Day) so I'll have to wait to speak to them but, if history keeps repeating, she'll be back to perfect pooing again tomorrow.

Re kefir, coincidentally this came up in one of my fb groups:

I don’t go to such great lengths. Ie no straining. I just keep a bit for the next batch.

It really helped turn the corner for Snowie when he had HGE. I think. Might’ve been coincidence. But he still gets it every night.

Pro fibre is great for firming up the poos.

I sometimes just add a handful of bran flakes to kibble if things aren't quite firm enough

Ooo, the dreaded runny poos. For a short term but natural fix, I always keep a stash of Tanagel powder but doing some online research, it seems it's sold only in Spain. Not so helpful!

Yellow shows an intolerance for something doesn't it? Is there something different she is eating or picked up somewhere?

Poor Ella. Could you put her on steamed chicken and rice for a few days instead of kibble? Sometimes that helps get the balance back. Hope she is 100% quickly. xx

I'd say don't underestimate the effect of antibiotics on the bowel (she had some didn't she?). They are wonderful things, there's no doubt, but do have side effects.

She didn't have any antibiotics so can't be that.

She's on 100% kibble - RC Labrador Retriever Adult - the same brand she's had since a pup. I've not given her anything else. If she's ever had a dodgy stomach in the past, the 100% kibble diet has helped.

The thing that's strange this time is that she's having the perfect poos in between the yellow, runny ones. I just don't get it
