Hello @ara sorry to hear your dog has had surgery. No I have not used a lick Sleeve, but I am sure one of our members

may of used one or something like it. It does seem expensive.

Can you watch your dog and make sure he isn’t nibbling his stitches? If so, then you can leave off the cone and just stop him when he wants to nibble the stitches. Cones are hot and uncomfortable, and if too tight, can cause a hotspot on the neck—I saw a photo recently of a terrible hotspot, vet/assistant had put the cone on too tightly.

I used a blowup collar for my boy. The downside is that they’re awful for lying down with—dog couldn’t get comfortable. The cone is more comfortable in that regard.

Perhaps leave off the cone when you can watch your dog, and put it back when you can’t.

I agree with @M.F. - when my dogs have had surgery I have stayed with them the whole time to check they are not bothering their stitches, because they were both very upset by the cone, and Poppy hated the body suit after her spay operation. I even had them sleeping in my bed so I would hear if they started licking the wound. I rather like the look of that lick sleeve and would probably give it a try, but it depends what kind of operation your dog has had and whether he can tolerate it being put on or not. I hope you find something that works for you - let us know what you decide and how your dog is getting on.

That lick sleeve looks like a good solution, although I don't have any personal experience to inform my opinion.

As regards the price -- set against the likely cost of any complications to healing should your dog lick his wound, is it so much? Especially if this sleeve would be a more comfortable option.

Just my thoughts :)

Sorry to hear about the leg surgery.
Is the licking an actual problem at the moment?
When Hunter had his elbow surgeries, he actually never licked his stitches. He stayed in his crate under my watchful eye.
His stitches were not the dissolving type so he had to have them removed (on hind site this has made him utterly scared of vets and I wished I had done something to help but at the time......)
I know that I would have some serious problems actually physically getting the sleeve on Hunter.
The lick sleeve does look like a good solution though.
