The first time we ever, ever, have cooked ribs with our takeaway, Bear manages to jump up on the table as I am clearing it and snaffles two of them, I managed to wrestle another couple out of his mouth. I'm sure it'll be fine, Monty has stolen chicken/ turkey bones in the past a few times and he was ok, but is there anything I can do other than keep an eye on him? I seem to recall feeding bread but is this just an old wives tail?

A few crutches, definitely, but he knew they were a super jackpot and he was quick to get them down. So annoyed with myself, should have cleared the table quicker.

I would just monitor for sickness, heaving or diorrhea. Harley pinched a cooked rib once and no side effects. Fingers crossed for you.

Coco pinched a rib out of the bin once, he was fine but it's a nervous wait. Hoping Bear just digests it with no effect.

At least one of mind has found cooked bones out and about in the past. People used to regularly feed cooked bones with no ill effect. We obviously know better, but problems are the exception rather than the rule. Just keep an eye on him. He may have a squitty bum but I’m sure he’ll be fine.

I served the dogs cooked bones for decades before I found out they were wrong. All dogs had no side effects. The odds are on your side.
I was in a room with four or five doctors recently, all dog lovers and current dog owners, but several of them expressed surprise that you shouldn't feed cooked bones. The one who knew about it (like me) has a dog who eats everything and gets in trouble because of it! So as people have said, problems are the exception. I have just watched and waited when Chewie has found discarded chicken bones on walks...
As a side note, Bear has been a little sod all day. Maybe it's the wind, which has been quite brisk here, it always seemed to wind Monty up when he was little. But from 8am onwards he's been jumping up, mouthing, grabbing clothes, whining, scratched my shoulder badly while I was sat at my dressing table - despite two walks and a whole lot of attention. At dinner, finally he was being good, sitting nicely, drooling but not begging for a good 20 to 30 minutes while we ate at the table. But, he was lulling me into a false sense of security, easy to strike as my back was turned

In similar situations in the past our vet has advised feeding a heap of bread or something high fibre, and, in the case of a swallowed toothpick, feeding cotton wool balls soaked in paraffin (yes our Labrador ate these with gusto). Probably be ok, my daughter's dog died because the bone stuck in her dogs oesophagus but if that had happened with Bear, you would know by now. Just keep a careful eye on him; my dog ate a cooked chicken bone and worried me to death, but he was fine.

Been around this block a few times with Simba the Sneaky Snaffler. He’s never had a problem with the cooked bones he’s managed to grab.

Fingers crossed for Bear, Natalie! He sounds like a dog with more than 9 lives. Hopefully it will be digested or come out safely. Brodie has pooped quite a few twigs or sharp-edged bits of wood and I have noticed that it tends to come out in thick mucousy poo which I assume is his digestive system protecting him from harm. 
. I had to put him back downstairs behind the stairgate last night as he thought a brilliant 11pm game was humping my new pillows 
. Hopefully they will have worked through by now, or at least very shortly.
