Feeding guides

Reuben is on Skinners duck and rice puppy , and for some time I went by the feeding guide on the bag . My goodness, poo overload ! I noticed that his morning one was perfect but then deteriorated throughout the day , so decided to cut the amount down , success ! I know these guides are just that , guides, but had I stuck to the recommended amount , he would have been ploughing his way through a 15 kilo sack in five or six weeks !

I have to admit, when we first brought Ella home, I read the instructions on the back of the bag and didn't really understand how much I was supposed to feed her. So I just sort of made it up and have been successfully following that method for nearly four years!

I reckon if they are gaining weight as pups, have a good shape , are active and healthy , then they are being fed enough x

Haha, I do the same. I weighed Squidge's at first, but the truth is that their exercise and training varies so much day to day that I just adjust the food according to what I think they need, and then what I see. Poor Squidge, back on the diet again

I was told that the guides were always on the high side anyway, for working dogs and very active dogs, but like @snowbunny says, every one is different. They should put this on the packet though, feeding is enough of a nightmare as it is! Maisy never guzzles the whole lot down like a 'typical' lab, always leaves a little scrap behind - it is the polite thing to do. Except tripe. The dish is licked clean after tripe.
