Meg came to us on Chappie chicken kibble, 2 scoops a day - which worked out as 450g (I prefer weighing). Her poos were massive, formed but soft. Her ribs could be felt "as through a duvet" so I went against the guidelines ant cut her immediately to 400g. She ate it, but rather slowly, hard to tell whether she wasn't keen or there was just too much. Sometimes she left some, which I threw away.
After her week's trial I started the transition to Skinners Duck & Rice, dropping the amount down to 150g, slowly, during this time I also gave her a tiny bit of Coco's Winalot wet food (sorry Coco). Now she is fully transitioned she also gets a little tin of Cesar (crappy wet food - used to be Mr Dog). She eats her meals with gusto now. Her poos are much more firm and not so huge. The Skinners kibble is much smaller in size that the Chappie. I thought she'd be complaining since the amount now is much less, but she seems perfectly happy (another Lab x without the Lab greedy-gene
).
Just got to monitor her rib-covering now to make sure we're feeding the right amount. It's getting thinner.
PS - done a rough weigh on the bathroom scales using OH..she's 53lb or 24kg - I am surprised at that! She could lose a bit more - I have't actually seen any of her ribs ever, though she has a nice tuck and her waist is appearing.
