Hunter's 1st Year ; Onward and Upwards

Today our loving chocco baby turned 1.
At the ripe old age of one he has had to endure 2 major elbow operations, 4 sedations, sonic therapy, infrared therapy and stem cell therapy!
To cut a long story short, Hunter started limping at 4 months. Luckily a loving Labrador stranger on the street told us to get the Vet as her Lab was the same and was diagnosed with Arthritis at 5 months.
Hunter was diagnosed at 5 months with Elbow Dysplasia . Both elbows had to operated on over a period of 3 months.
After accepting that we will not be jogging or climbing Catbells in the Lakes or running after balls, we found a path forward so he can have a good quality of life.

His rehabilitation is an ongoing project and some people think we are crazy/nuts with all the therapy he has.
At the end of the day, it is our choice. We had Hunter to be a family dog and that it what he is. Family!

Hunter does have bad days and we have to give him a painkiller. Since the stem cell therapy we have seen a great improvement. That could be also due to all the things we are doing!
He was supposed to have a big check-up today but that will happen next week.
X-ray time and he will need to be sedated...again!

I just want to thank the forum for letting me have my rants and helping me with good advice.

Lorraine and my wonderful Hunter

He is a beautiful boy, happy birthday handsome Hunter (gorgous puppy photo too!). What very happy fortune brought him to you to give him the best possible care with managing his condition x

I'm sorry you and Hunter have such a tough year... but he is very lucky to have you, and you are lucky to have him!! I'd be very interested to hear what his therapy and rehabilitation consist of, if you feel up to writing about it some time.

Happy birthday lovely Hunter!!! Hope you have a great day...
