I Found this Lump on Charlie

Yesterday I noticed Charlie had a wet patch of fur on his right hand side just at the bottom of his ribcage. When I felt it I thought it was a tick but it's definitely not. Any ideas please? Sorry about the photo quality my phone is rubbish. Thanks xx

A hot spot is raw and moist. If is dry it’s not a hot spot.

Is it raised? Hard to tell from the pic. In the pic it looks to have an uneven surface - is that the case?

Is it a bite/or sting?
.

Maybe I'm not sure but come to think of it late last week whilst we were still in Scotland Charlie behaved very oddly one day. He was very unsettle, whining to go outside then wouldn't go, pacing around, barking at us, but not licking/biting any part of his body. He settled throughout the night, I left all the doors open for him to come and get me. The next day he was back his normal self. We couldn't figure it out as he was exercising and eating, pooing as normal. Maybe he was bitten by something? xx

Could you do a quick jaunt to the vet just to be sure? My mind always goes to the worst scenario, which in this case made me think Alabama Rot. Highly unlikely it's something to do with that, but maybe better safe than sorry?

Raised and uneven could be a wart or a sebaceous cyst but they are not usually on the rib cage, I think. One for the vet, I reckon. It’s tiny, so the vet may have trouble extracting a cell sample but s/he can give you an opinion based on appearance and location. Definitely tell the vet that he might have been chewing or licking it as that indicates it’s been itchy, which might be useful in making a diagnosis.
