Joy has spent the day with a friend of mine and her dog today. This was because I was having some work done on the house. The workmen were due to arrive at 9am and I wasn't sure how long it would take, then I had a hairdressing appointment at 2pm and I wasn't certain that I'd be able to fit Joy's usual big walk in, also the work on the house involved potentially sharp objects on the floor and I just thought it would work better for everyone if Joy was having fun elsewhere. I dropped her off at my friend's house at 9 (the workmen arrived early at 8.15!) and went home to see how things were progressing.I was right about sharp objects on the floor, and the work wasn't finished until 12.45 so I was right about not being able to fit Joy's walk in. After a quick hoover up of sharp things I went to my hairdressing appointment at 2pm and from there to collect GGJ. My friend said they'd had a good two hour walk, then lots of play, and then at 2pm Joy started to cry. Apparently she whimpered and whimpered, then climbed onto my friend's lap and after some cuddles, went to sleep. She hasn't sat on my lap since she was a small puppy, she's been to my friend's house several times, but always with me there and I'm interested to know why this happened at 2pm. One possible explanation is that Joy and I usually have our after lunch quiet time at around 2pm. I sit down to read for a bit and usually snooze for 10-15 minutes with Joy beside me in her downstairs bed, so maybe this was what she wanted. Another thought I had was that my friend lives quite near to the hairdresser's salon. I wonder if Joy sensed me coming closer around 2pm and then was upset when I failed to appear? It's probably one of those little mysteries that I'll never know the answer to!
