Injectable flea and tick treatment

Has anyone heard of this?

My vet have said they’ve started doing an injection of flea and tick treatment that lasts 12 months.

We’re going for his vaccinations on Friday and was going to ask about it.

Wow, it lasts 12 months?? I would be very wary of that (but then I've had bad experiences with the tablets, and I know the majority of dogs get on just fine with them).

I don't think you need to have tick/flea protection all year round. We have terrible tick infestations here in the summer, so Merlin wears a tick collar from mid-April to mid-October (we don't use anything on Poppy), and nothing in the other months. I wouldn't prophylactically treat against fleas; only one of my dogs ever got them (after sniffing a hedgehog) and a bath with flea shampoo dealt with that.

I didn’t end up taking Stanley because I got held up at work, so OH took him.

He didnt ask about it and just got his usual tablet.

I’m not opposed to the idea of it. But would want to know the brand etc to do some research before and decide.
