Injection for dogs against fleas and ticks

Has anyone here come across injection for dogs against fleas and ticks? I saw this at the French vets. I am not sure what I think about this

Bravecto Injectable is the main injection for dogs against fleas and ticks, providing year-long protection against both pests. It contains the active ingredient fluralaner, which is released slowly from a crystalline suspension after a single injection by a vet. This method offers convenient, sustained efficacy, targeting the nervous systems of fleas and ticks to cause paralysis and death.

Because we walk in deer country , both dogs have bravecto to protect against ticks . I sometimes wish I didnt have to use it but they would pick up ticks for sure . I might ask our Vet about the injection although I like them to have a break during winter months xx

I would be cautious given the bad press about Bravecto and seizures. And some of our forum members experience.
Anything new is "black triangle" so still collecting data in practice.
Something either injection or oral is in the body until it wares off.
I have used Bravecto on Lilly, but would be cautious recommending it to new users.
Having said that, most of the "bad press" on these newer drugs comes from social media and some of it is awful and harrowing but not evidence based.

I haven't heard of the injection and don't know anything about it. I have always been in the camp of only using the treatment if the need arises, which incredibly with Cass it never has.
There is evidence that the hairs from pets treated with these chemical s get used by nesting birds , causing fatalities amongst the chick's
It's a tough one because it's horrid when they get ticks in particular.

Yes, that is exactly right sadly. I feel there is no need for flea protection unless there is a flea problem. I never use it and up to this moment, my dogs have never had fleas. However, when we visited Cornwall I did use tick protection. I did read that vets were going to be told not to prescribe it willy nilly.

We've tried a few over the years.

Drontal was awful for Ella. It sent her crazy, like she was on drugs. Used it once, never again.

Revolution was a spot on treatment. She hated it and started pacing and crying as soon as it went on and didn't settle for hours. The second time I washed it off straight away and we didn't use it again.

We switched to an injection for heartworm prevention and don't use any other flea/tick prevention.

However, we have used Bravecto twice, when we've been travelling to areas with paralysis ticks. We felt the risk of paralysis ticks was great enough to warrant the use of Bravecto, although I was nervous. Funnily enough, we didn't have any issues with it at all.
