Kitty Kat

I would love a cat, but our garden backs on to a busy road, and cats tend either to learn fast that the road is dangerous, or else have very short lives... I'm sure my dogs would quickly learn to get on with a cat; they get on with my mother's cat when at her house.

I have rescued several kittens from France over the years (brought them back to Germany for re-homing), and my old dogs were fine with them.

OH didn’t want Stanley!

In the end I told him I was going to look at puppies and he could either come with or not, but who knows what would happen if I went alone. Next thing, deposit was paid and Stanley arrived 6 weeks later.

I have a name and everything.. I want to call him Roger.

Stanley and Roger.. I can’t even deal

When you say you don’t do litter trays do your cats just go outside?
My cats have always gone outside (largish gardens), apart from when they first arrive and if they're ill. Even with all the snow we had last winter they still wanted to go outside, although they tended to dig a hole in the snow and go right outside the door which wasn't particularly convenient .

We had cats growing up and only used litter trays with kittens or elderly cats. We never had a cat flap, but the cats would ask to come in or go out by banging on the knocker, over the letter box! :D

Roger is still a work in progress. OH isn’t too thrilled by the idea..

We’re at a stale mate where I either go and get the cat without OH’s knowledge or I just let it go.

I haven’t decided which way to go yet ;)

If it were me I would be walking away as I think pet ownership has to be a joint decision and commitment. Last September I removed my name from a puppy wait list because my OH had started having doubts about having a puppy, which I do understand with Juno and her problems. I was really upset, and annoyed, at the time but I'm still working on him and we keep dithering but what will be, will be. In the meantime I lavish all my love on my special choccie girl.

OH actually loves cats!

When I say I’ll bring the cat home I wouldn’t do it if I thought my OH would actually mind :ROFLMAO:

He’s literally the most sit on the fence person ever, so he’s umming and ahhing which he would do forever.

If I actually turned up with the cat he’d laugh, go “ohhhh jen ??‍♀“ then take over because he’s the “cat person” and be obsessed within an hour.

I would just do it times a wasting. My oh didn't want any dogs or cats but he wouldn't stop me doing what a want to do. It's give and take 5 dogs and cats later he's just relieved I don't have horses these days . He doesn't do any of the work involved with them or pay for them so it's never been a issue.
