Maxx's recall

We hadn't had a chance to test Maxx's recall with a visitor so when Steve's brother came over on Saturday we asked him to help out. Now he really doesn't like dogs (the two brothers are VERY different) but he obliged. Steve opened the door and when Maxx heard his brothers voice downstairs he started barking madly (Maxx and I were upstairs, me hiding in the other room with the whistle). His brother walked up the stairs and stood there, ignoring Maxx. We had a baby gate up so Maxx couldn't get to him but he was going nuts. I pipped the whistle and he turned on a dime and came running! He got half a sachet of cat food for that one. Yay!

Then last night I heated up his dinner which so it was very tempting. It was roast lamb, rice, veges and a bit of gravy so it smelt heavenly to Maxx. I put it right on the edge of the counter so he could get it if he really tried but I said 'wait'. He sat and stared longingly at it then Steve pipped from the other room and off he ran to him! I can also pip from inside when Maxx is out in the garden and he comes running. So we have definitely mastered the recall around the house.....next move outside the house. Terrified!
