Do pups get nightmares? Once in a while, Kipper will wake in the small hours (between 1 and 5) and do a whistle that’s quite different from his other noises; it’s a little nervous whine, very tentative but clearly wanting something. I’ll go and see him at which point he’ll be scrabbling to get out of the crate (he’s generally really comfy in there). When I open the gate he’ll be het up, and needs to walk fast circuits with lamby in his mouth whilst I get in long smooth strokes and talk gently and reassuringly to him. I’ll keep it all very low key, low lights and quiet and pretty quickly he comes back down and will settle back in his crate after a wee in the garden.
I know they all dream, but I just wondered if anyone else had noticed nightmares in their pup? I’m sure it must be linked to developing brains etc, I used to have very vivid nightmares when I was younger so maybe it’s more common at certain developmental stages.
