Odd Behaviour in the Early Hours

Sorry another Charlie question For about a week Charlie has woken up around 0245, he's startled/frightened, his raised bed ends up across the floor he then runs down the hall curls up in a ball by the front door. When we get up to him his eyes tightly closed and won't open them. Last night Thomas got up and after some coaxing got him to sleep in his room. I have checked the room there's nothing living in there, no mice etc. Nothing as far as I can see is any different. It's strange, any ideas please? Thank you xx

Do you have a camera you can set up to record him? It's obviously something he's responding to. Is there maybe a large vehicle that drives past at that time of night which might cause a vibration?

I'd definitely go with a camera as the first port of call, just to rule out the possibility of a fit or something. Hope you get to the bottom of it!

No Hattie sleeps in our room. I leave the bedroom door open for him to join us but Charlie favours his own bed. I don't think large vehicles come up here during the night as we're remote. xx

How old is Charlie now? I know some aspects of doggie dementia can present with fearfullness.

Could there be a creature/animal (fox?) outside that is startling him?

He is 8 1/2. Could that be a possibility? x

I don't think so, no evidence of a fox. It's very odd that it's around the same time every night. I'm going to bring him in with me tonight so that we all can get a full nights sleep! x
