Playing with a puppy

Tonight Kipper spent the evening with my mum’s new lab puppy Zorro and Jambo, her 9yr old lab.
it was fascinating to see how Kipper was with Zorro; he was very patient, and slowly warmed up to a game of bitey face and - eventually - Zorro zonked out on Jambo’s paw. Very sweet!A4179071-9FE2-46D0-9DEC-5CB70EF04937.jpeg B1377637-91A9-4E83-ACC8-43E01BC79E53.jpeg00F9DC48-609A-4312-B9BF-88DDCEE59748.jpeg

lovely pics @HAH

How is your Mum coping with puppyhood?
She’s tired, and finding the constant activity a shock to the system. But also doing really well; he’s sleeping until 6.15 am, settling well and is very good at 4 paws on the floor :) he’s got the basics well, and has a lovely recall (slightly better than Kipper, ahem). And I’m particularly thrilled that quietly and without fanfare she’s using treats with him to reinforce good behaviour. This is a massive shift from her previous ‘old school’ approach that using treats would spoil them, and I’m seriously impressed with how she’s doing. Long may it last!

Zorro seems very confidant puppy!
He’s amazingly confident! Being used to Kipper who likes to take his time to weigh situations up first, Zorro is a real difference - very forward, confident and comfortable to jump in and work it out later! His play is lovely; he started to bark at Kipper which left Kipper a bit nonplussed; then when Kipper barked back, Zorro skidaddled with his tail down, but was back in seconds and they were bouncing and play bowing and taking turns beautifully. Jambo looked thrilled that there was another dog drawing the fire, he just relaxed and watched them!
Looks like Jambo is ok too
He’s remarkable; considering he’s Mr Quiet Life, we thought the disruption would be a blow but he’s incredibly patient and he and Zorro are starting to snuggle together. At the moment, Zorro isn’t chewing him too much which helps. Long may it continue :)
