Plumber training

[HAH]

I'm quite pleased; we've got a plumber in replacing both toilets and a sink (long overdue, both knackered and one sprung a leak the other day ), which we thought would be a 'quick' 2 day job but has actually taken 5 days so far - a combination of tricky plumbing, bad luck (backing tiles breaking) and a very careful but not very quick semi-retired plumber.
Anyway, the reason I'm pleased is that Kipper and I are working from home today and he's not used to strange people in the house, so I was a bit nervous about how he'd settle. After a bit of squizzling round with Mr Bear in his mouth ('what's the odd person doing here?') and a kibble scatter, Kipper's flopped on his bed in the study and is dozing comfortably. I'm really pleased that whilst he's definitely more highly strung than many, his short term stress bucket seems to empty quickly and this is definitely improving as he gets older.

Sounds like he's doing brilliantly. I think it's quite normal to be a little on edge when there's someone unfamiliar doing strange things in your house - I bet if you think about it, you've not been as comfortable as you normally would be, either? - so for him to be having a snooze is really great

That's one slow plumber! (We had our bathroom replaced in five days, including tiling and replacing the tank in the attic). But good for Kipper!

Yep, definitely! I find it very uncomfortable and can't wait until 5 o'clock - clearly this'll affect my behaviour too.

I'm glad you said that! On day 3 I was ready to say actually, just leave it and we'll get someone else. But I think he's trying his best; I think I might make him nervous, he keeps asking me to check things (??!) so I'm trying to be zen

Joy also likes to help anyone doing work on the house and keeps bringing them presents. She always seems a little disappointed when they leave, whereas I'm relieved. Hope your plumbing work is soon finished!

Now, my excuse for this is I’m very tired, I’ve got a million things going on in my head, and I woke up at 4 worrying about them. BUT when I first read the thread title I had visions of training a labrador to do the plumbing , I think I’m due a lie down .

Hattie & Charlie couldn't care less who comes into our house, they greeted with love, licks and excitement . The electricity meter reading man came this week and was smothered with kisses which thankfully he enjoyed! xx
