Maxx, Steve and SIL came up to meet me off the bus today. As we started walking down the hill we spotted a small dog across the other side of the road and his back legs weren't working properly
. His owner(s) were nowhere in sight and he ran straight across the road towards us. We grabbed him and of course Maxx was leaping around like a loon and between holding Maxx and trying to stop the little dog from once again running on the road we were in chaos. A lovely young man who was working in the car park ran across to help us. He obviously loved dogs too.
Anyway long story short we whipped Maxx's lead off and SIL made a noose so she could hold the small dog while OH grabbed Maxx by his collar and the three of us ran down the hill to home to get the car. I stayed with Maxx at home and OH drove back up the hill and he and SIL took the dog to the local vet who gladly accepted him. The vet is going to treat him and check if he is microchipped and hopefully find his owners
My heart bled at his little face looking at us like 'please help me, I'm lost and I'm hurt'. We don't know if he was hit by a car or possibly was abandoned to avoid vet bills. The vet has our details and said he would let us know what happens

Took me ages to pluck up the courage to read this thread. Hoping for a positive update. Well done on your kindness xx
