Reuben x

Hard to believe that he is almost seven months old , so he soon wont appear in this section ! The time has flown by , and I don't mind admitting that I am relieved that the young puppy stage is over , even though I love little pups ! At 71 years old , it was hard work , especially those trips to the garden , endless trips in the rain, snow and cold but never mind , he is growing up fast now and I mustn't wish his youth away . He is making a lovely dog , the jumping up is getting much less now and I can say hand on heart that I love taking him for walks , he is so joyful and responsive ( most of the time ! ) . We went out for dinner with friends last weekend and , it being the first time he has been left in the evening , my elder grandson elected to puppy sit , but said that he really felt redundant as both dogs just slept all the time , and that Reubs didn't bat an eyelid that we weren't around , which is grand . Bless him , my long legged lad , love him to bits ( and so does Nelly ) xx

Puppies are a joy and a nightmare in one, it is sad to see the puppy disappear but exciting and quite a relief when the adult starts to show.
The difficult days are soon forgotten though and Reuben is such a handsome young fella now, I am glad you, Paul and Nelly are enjoying his company. But surely he can't get any taller?

I am so happy for you Kate that you finally felt you could have another Labrador, I had my first Lab at 69 and my second at 75! Don't think I can contemplate one at 82 though, wouldn't be fair on the pup.

Poor Rourke is very lame with the arthritis in both shoulders and now of his left hock, poor love is only just 7 and I can't see him going on beyond 8, so will be looking for an adult Lab next year. All very sad.

I think you were extremely brave @kateincornwall to get a puppy especially like me you have members of the family who need care too. I am 2 years younger than you and as you know I really struggled with my little puppy. The sheer physical demands are immense.

I’m glad you are enjoying him - we really do reap why we sow - ❤
