I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before
but Shadow is a dick.
Yesterday, I was sat on the floor next to the bed, stroking Willow as a storm passed overhead. He could have moved a couple of feet to the side and got on the bed normally, but no, he attempted an epic leap over us instead. He slipped on take-off and ended up three legs on, one off; he was clearly struggling to get on, so I helped up his remaining leg and thought no more of it, until later on when he jumped off and I noticed him limping. I gave him a good check over and couldn't see anything obvious, so assumed it's just a slight muscle strain. This morning, it was still there which is a little concerning, and it's now obvious that it on his front left leg. I took him out for a quiet walk this morning - the first thing Dick Dog did was the long-jump over a load of branches on the floor that he could just have easily walked around. Before I knew it, he jumped up a five-foot stone terrace wall. I shouted at him to stop there and come around the easy way - he ignored me and jumped straight down again. He's such a dick! He's limping away, but still doing these ridiculous things.
So I made absolutely sure it was very sedate after that. I can't see any swelling, abrasions or anything like that, but he squeaked when I gently squeezed his foot. I don't know how he hurt a front foot doing his leap, but there you go. I'll give it another day and see how it is, otherwise it's a trip to the vet.
I love him so very much, but, honestly. Dick Dog.
