Sore Paw

This strange lump in on Bella’s paw. Google was no help.
Has anyone any idea what this might be. She has been licking her paw but couldn’t see anything until last night. It weeping a little and looks sore.
I rang the emergency vet who just said to keep it clean and dry.
Will make an appointment tomorrow at our regular vet tomorrow.

Ouch! Poor Bella, that does look sore! I haven't seen anything like that on a dog. It sounds like it's come on quite suddenly. Could she have a thorn or splinter of some sort stuck i there that has caused an infection? I hope the vet can sort it out tomorrow.

Oh Bella, I bet that’s irritating. Has it come up very quickly? You’d probably have noticed it before. I’d guess it’s an abscess from a foreign body of some sort, Kipper’s had similar but much smaller. The vet lanced it and there was a lot of pus inside, the vet expected to find a thorn but it wasn’t obvious. It cleared up after a few days. Hopefully Bella’s will be similarly straightforward, but really good you’re going to the vet.

One of the problems is that Bella is such a diva and will limp if she has as much a bit of grass on her paw so it’s hard to tell if it’s something or nothing. We haven’t been on a walk today just settled for the garden. Did try to put a dog boot on but she refused to move with it on.
I’ll give her a dose of metacam and see what the vet says tomorrow.

Just back from the vet, 3 biopsies and now await results. It’s not an abscess, definitely a cyst of some sort. Possible simple fatty lump or mast cell. The speed it came up suggests the latter. 😢
Treatment obviously depends on results but if removal is necessary the easiest and most successful re healing is to take the lump and the toe😭
I’ve just got to keep it clean 🙄 after I laughed she said to just wash it if it gets dirty.
So a waiting game.

Did the vet not give you an empty drip bag to tie on to Lottie foot. When my late dog Robbie had stiches in his pad, my vet gave me a drip
bag to keep his foot clean.

DIY Method As you mentioned "drip bag," it's worth noting that some pet owners and vets have repurposed empty, sterile IV bags as temporary, waterproof covers for injured or bandaged paws during quick outdoor trips. This involves cutting the bag and securing it with bandages but care must be taken not to trap moisture or cut off circulation.

I only used it when outside and took it off when we got in .
