This weekend there was a big fair on at the next village to ours. We thought we'd take Squidge along to see the sights. It's mainly stalls of tat lining the streets, plus some tents for displaying different animals (last time, we saw some stunning golden pheasants), a few demonstrations and competitions, a large wine tasting area, food stalls and fairground rides.
The place was absolutely rammed with people, and it was really noisy, yet the little lady took it all in her stride. She did get a bit over-enthusiastic about the soft toys at her eye level on some of the stalls, and she is obsessed with people carrying coats under their arms - she always wants to try and grab them. And there was one lady who was bending down to attend to her baby, with the head of the child's doll sticking out between her legs - Squidge stuck her mouth right over it as we walked on by...
But in general, she was brilliant. It was far more people than she's ever seen before, and the sights and sounds were completely new. There were lots of dogs and she was great when she was told she couldn't engage with them, but polite as ever when she could. There were children running around waving churros at Labrador level, prams and buggies everywhere and she didn't bat an eyelid.
Obviously, I was rather preoccupied when we were in the crowds but here are some photos I took watching the horse-dragging-stuff competition:

And she got to have a little play in the fountains later on:
When we got home she slept like the dead!

It just makes you realise how different dogs can be no matter how many we have at any time. xx
