Toffee has got another bout of conjunctivitis, he does seem quite prone to it. His eyes had looked sore at the weekend and I’d bathed them and was considering a vet visit. But before I could make the appointment I had quite a fright. He had been playing with Ripple, then went out for a wee and when I brought him in he looked up at me and his eye looked terrible; his third eyelid was up and his eyeball appeared to be turning backwards, then he slumped to the floor looking in pain.
I rang the vet and then rushed him there, by which time, of course, he appeared perfectly normal. They examined his eye and put in the dye, it’s not ulcerated or got anything in it but he has got conjunctivitis. My normal vet wasn’t there but the vet I saw said he thought something outside had brushed into his eye and as it was already sensitive this had probably hurt him enough for his eye to react in that way.
It was quite frightening, I have seen third eyelids come up but never an eyeball rolling back like that. It almost looked like he was having a fit, or as if he had been blinded. But at least I know it’s neither of those things. I’m just £50 lighter and aged a few more years. And I thought animals were supposed to be stress relievers
