Charlie's been in the Wars AGAIN

David took Charlie to the forest this morning and we noticed he had a slice of fur missing on the side of his face and his eye is a little swollen. He is not keeping it open properly and it is runny but clear. I have cleaned the missing fur area with boiled cooled salted water and tried to bathe his eye but I think it's sore as he's not keen, although he did come to me for a little wipe. I think he must have hit his face on something and effectively has a 'black eye'. I have given him Metacam and he's sleeping. He ate his dinner and had a chew at lunch time so will keep a watchful eye and see how he goes. I'm sure Charlie is accident prone! Poor love xx

I’d go to the vet too. The fact that he’s not holding it fully open and there’s a bit of discharge would have me making an appointment. Most likely it’s just sore and all is well, but you generally don’t want to ‘watch and wait’ with eyes.

Oh no! Poor Charlie, he may have scratched his eye. The vet told me today that a sign they have scratched it is if they try and keep their eye closed I hope he’s feeling much better tomorrow

Thanks everyone but he's back normal this morning The clear discharge has stopped and his eye is fully opened. He's had an on lead walk, brekkie, a corner of my toast and is in the office with David. I think he whacked it so it was tender. I will obviously get him straight to the vet should things change. xx

I've had numerous conversations with him saying he is getting too old for this hooligan behaviour, but alas it falls on deaf ears He thinks he is a pup! xx
