Wasps

Finn got stung by a wasp....The right sight of his mouth. Keeping a close eye on him now. Otherwise emergency vet...He is drooling a bit and feels sorry for himself. It must have hurt him terribly though, poor thing!
Is there something more I can do? My OH gave him Levocetirizine, a anti histamine

Oh poor Finn, what a worry @Anne123 . Antihistamine was my only thought, how is he now? A big risk is swelling inside the mouth making it difficult to breathe, so if it was on the outside of his mouth it’ll be painful but hopefully okay.

He is okay. He is attacking the grass mower.....No swelling to be seen. It was inside the mouth and he started drooling quite heavy. A bit scary I must say. So we decided to give him antihistamine and I think it worked. We still observe him closely

Ugh I hate wasps. Glad he’s ok and didn’t react too bad. Axel was stung for the first time a couple weeks ago on his nose. Just a bit of swelling but other than a couple seconds of weird facial expressions from him I never would have known. And the fact that I had watched the whole thing happen.

Did it teach him to stop trying to eat them? NOPE.

Poor Finn. The wasps this summer are horrible here too. I was sitting on a bench today next to an American tourist who remarked that Regensburg must have lots of flowering gardens around because there were so many "honey bees". I thought, "No, sir, it's hot and garbage day in the Old Town which means those are nasty icky WASPS!" :devilish:

Snowie is allergic to insect bites and stings. Swells up. Vet said that if he gets bitten/stung again, to immediately give a few cortisone tablets while his airways are open and then rush to vet. He’s had two vet visits for stings/bites in his 7.5 years. Hope Finn is ok today?

Finn was when he was a puppy stung by an insect. We didn’t know which. He was swollen and rushed to a vet. We don’t know what he got for we were on vacation and it happened at doggy care. After this he lost all his fur, but by the time we were home (3weeks) nothing was to be seen. That’s why it made me panicking yesterday evening and why we gave him antihistamine.

Poor Finn that's horrible so glad he is alright. Hattie was stung last year by a wasp, she had a bad reaction, panting, couldn't walk so we had to be picked up from our walk, she slept for a long time. Horrible things. xx

Glad he is ok and back to his old self again. When Maisy was a pup she was stuck on the side, she was quite sleepy after but no other effects which is a relief. Wasps just have too much attitude!
