Puppy School

It’s an interesting challenge, Sophie, and I hope it all proves positive. Windsor sounds an ideal ‘first’, as she needs the extra time before travelling.

Will there be classes recommended for the puppy owners to continue training once they go to their homes?

This sounds like an exciting business to get your teeth into. Personally, I don't see that the owners bonding would be compromised. Having adopted 4 adult dogs, I can confirm that the bond is there alright. Straight away. I think that by starting off good training with the pups it should cut down on the puppy blues and may be even early surrenders. I wish you lots of luck and look forward to hearing about your experiences.

Snowie came to us at 8.5 weeks. He came house trained. Not that the breeder house trained the puppies as such, but they learned from their mum to go outside to wee and poo. I’m sure it made a difference to us because I hear so often of others who have house training blues. So yes, I also initially thought: outsourcing puppy training, can that be such a good thing? But then we read how important it is to leave the pup with the mum and litter for long enough to learn important skills. So, why not also with a skilled trainer? Best of luck! It sounds like a lot of hard work, but also very rewarding.

Two sleepy pups this morning - first night with Bo was good. I was a bit nervous about it as she would always mess her crate overnight at work but I just shortened the length of time she’s in her crate by a couple of hours and voila (!) clean and happy puppy overnight :dug:42B820BA-4E0D-4975-90EE-E74759EA33E3.jpeg

Think we are going to take them for some town socialisation today to get the used to the noises. Both will need carried though as neither are old enough to go on the ground yet (Windsor will be allowed down on Tuesday!)

Just been on a socialisation trip to Pillars of Hercules, the organic cafe and food shop.
A "no paws on the ground visit".
Both puppies settled nicely while we ate sweet potato fries with garlic mayo, followed by cake and coffee.
Then we were allowed in the shop where we had some 1 to 1 interactions.
Prior to this we took Lills and Oreo to the woods for a romp whilst the puppies were left snoozing in their crates for crate training time. They did very well.
I shall not dwell on the return journey. And the vomit. And clearing up. :puke:. Could have been worse.
