Maxx has a sore ear

Maxx has been shaking his head and scratching at his left ear for a couple of days. We went through the trauma of using the ear cleaner for the past two days which normally stops any irritation but not this time. And this morning when Steve was cleaning the ear he found some blood on the tissue. Possibly just from scratching but we will be off to the vet tomorrow (Monday) to get him checked out.

He is fine otherwise, bouncy and hungry but it is obviously bothering him

Poor Maxx, it must be so uncomfortable. Roll on tomorrow for visit to vet to get it sorted. If it gets worse during the day, might be a good idea to phone vet for advice, he might put some different ear drops out for you until he sees him.

Thanks everyone. I've had a look inside @M.F. and apart from it being quite red I couldn't see anything.

We don't even get to see the vet. We have to drop him off, wait while the vet checks him then have a phone consultation. I wonder how we pay? I'm very very sure they will have that part sorted though

I think it was a bit traumatic and now he is feeling very sorry for himself

Speaking of trauma, we have medicated ear stuff and have to put some in twice per day. Maxx carries on like we are using a branding iron or something whenever we try.

Poor Steve, who does NOT like spending money, nearly fell over. I see it as a necessary thing to keep Maxx healthy and we bought a dog so why get surprised that he needs to see the vet periodically. We are actually very lucky that he rarely needs it

I sat on the couch next to him and showed him the new ear bottle for ages and gave him lots of scratches and cheese and he let me put some in his ear. Not happily but he didn't pull away too much. I think he really likes the massage bit so he put up with the yucky squeezy bit.

Right now he is running around the house with a plastic bottle making enough noise to wake the dead so obviously already feeling better!
