Waterproof Coat

I’m sure there must have been discussions on this in the past but my lightweight waterproof coat has given up the ghost. After several years of reproofing it now refuses to keep the rain out and I’ve had a couple of mornings of soggy pockets and wet clothes under the coat. I have a heavyweight coat for the winter but at this time of year I like a lighter coat that I can pop a jumper under if necessary.
I tried a couple of Seasalt coats but I couldn’t find anything really suitable for dog walking. What is everyone else wearing at this time of year?

I am wearing a Four Seasons parka. It’s ideal - lightweight, has the right size pockets for all the necessary dog things. I bought it about 3/4 years ago so I don’t know if they still do that style. It was put to the test again this morning - heavy rain and high winds. I came home dry and warm

I've had a couple of regatta jackets, quite lightweight which are completely waterproof. My last one I got off eBay 2nd hand, it was like new and I paid only £8 ish including delivery for a coat which would have been £40 to £45 new.

My one that just gave up is a Regatta I bought from a boot fair for £8, I didn’t think about eBay. How would you know it’s ok?

My dog walking coat is Regatta, we had them for work and they were great, when I was on the district.
I got hold of an Alexandra work wear catalogue and got one in the sale for £10. It's brilliantly waterproof and padded so warm for the winter as well. The only trouble for me is that it is a Very Bright blue, but it is well weathered now!!

It's always worth looking at the seller's feedback, but I suppose you do often take a chance on these things, probably one in five things I buy from eBay don't fit or aren't suitable, but for the low prices you pay for the good or great items, it's definitely worth it. You can always ask questions about size, fit, etc, and if they don't reply, they aren't a great seller. If you search for the brands you would like, put a top price range on ( personally I never go above £10 to £12) narrow it down to your size, and whether you want a hood, coat length, etc. It's often worth bidding on a couple of items, expecting that you won't win one of them - though of course you might end up with two. It's a bit addictive ( ask @Emily_Babbelhund ) but there are genuine bargains to be had if you don't mind second hand ( I assume you don't if you've bought from a boot fair before). Decide on your top price and walk away, don't be drawn into the language ebay use to entice you to increase your bid.
My recent bargains are Skechers, I ended up with 3 new pairs costing between £6 and £13 each including postage, all were in excellent, almost pristine condition.

My recent Regatta jacket is cornflower blue, it wouldn't have been my first choice but it's super cosy and has excellent pockets !
