Boots.

Did you get your boot issue resolved @Candy ? I’ve just got a pair in the sale from our local outdoor gear shop: Women's Peak GTX Boot - Lake Blue/ Green I’m really pleased, they’re a bargain and will be good for the warmer drier :fingers: weather.
So far my Grisport boots are doing very well thanks, coupled with the advice from the nice man in the shop who may, or may not have been suggesting that I have sweaty feet (see earlier posts on same thread). I am so pleased with them that I was wondering if a little celebration might be in order tomorrow in honour of Two Weeks of Dry Feet! What do you reckon?:giggl:

They look lovely. I am just waiting for another pair of Meindl boots to come. This will be my second pair - these ones have more of a winter tread and a furry insole. I have been very pleased with my current boots - very pricey but they have had a huge mileage through all sorts of conditions. They are worn every day and are extremely comfortable. They are still ok but worn a bit on the bottom and earlier this year they let some moisture in after constantly walking through mud and puddles. I am just a bit concerned the grip is not enough for me for the coming winter so new ones it is. Now I am older, I get more worried about falling and injuring myself

A dog leg has photobombed your boot picture 😍🐕
Kipper is so pleased you noticed!
Oh! Those are seriously nice boots! But do you wear them for proper dog walking, as in over hill and dale, through streams and bogs and what have you?
Oho, you’re spot on Candy - these are not dog walking boots, more everyday muck about boots. I have 2 pairs 😱 of Scarpa walking boots that I rotate, and are fabulous solid workhorses over hill and dale, through streams and bogs :)

Completely understand this Alison. Hopefully your new Meindls will be fab, I love them as a brand - similar to Scarpa. Expensive but solid.

@Atemas, I have some Meindl boots and they are the only boots I can wear. How do you clean them, or what do you clean them with? I do spray to protect them but need a cleaner.

@kateincornwall, the Meindl boots are very light and feel like walking on air. I have very difficult feet and can recommend them. Up until recently I could only wear wellies until I discovered these boots. They are expensive, but worth it.

I have to confess @Jelinga they rarely get cleaned and I think this accounts for one of them letting in moisture. I have to clean them if they get covered in mud - I usually scrape the mud off and then use a damp old cloth to do the rest. I should then wax them - we have Nikwax - but as they are in constant use, I don’t. Having 2 pairs should help me take better care

Sorry to butt in @Jelinga and @Atemas but this makes all the difference for me :)
To proof them, I let them dry, brush off the worst of the mud (or vice versa if really muddy!) and use nikwax leather proofer which is like a cream you work into the leather with a cloth. Then wipe off the excess, let it dry and voila! They really appreciate it, and for twice daily use I’ll do this once every 6 weeks or so.
