This is not meant to be!!

Yes, the skin is healthy underneath, there’s just a good chunk of yuck to come off. It’s quite comforting that it’s sore if that makes sense. It feels healthy and alive! I just need to keep it well moisturised and clean, and try to avoid catching it on things. The pharmacy gave me some antiseptic gel stuff, but it seems to create a weird second skin which is really drying. Coconut oil seems to be keeping it more supple for now.

That was such a nasty injury so it’s quite a recovery process. It does look healthy though. I remember years ago slicing through two of my fingertips - they had to be stitched like yours. I remember the skin thing like you are at at the moment and then the flapping finger nails (as @Jacqui-S mentions) as they eventually died and came off. Sorry it’s painful. Keep up the good work.

I still remember leaving the hospital in agony after they’d stitched my fingers which were numbed because I’d been given an anti tetanus jab in my bottom - this was over 50 years ago and yet clear in my memory

Does look painful but nice and healthy. Go you for your excellent constitution to help such strong recovery! Lanolin is fab but might sting if the skin is very delicate still? Hope you keep it snag-free and well moisturised, you’ll be rock climbing again in no time 👍

Thank you for the spoiler, I still haven't looked but I hope it is healing well. I had some nerve damage in two fingers (grabbing a collie and pulling it away from attacking Maisy) about 3 years ago and the nerves are still not right.
