Good Bye Bobby

My dad's dog Bobby was put to sleep today.

He was 15 years old, Cattle dog x Collie. He did very well and will be very much missed. For nearly 50 years there's always been a dog in the house, its going to be very upsetting for my Dad.

Oh poor old boy...15 is such an achievement but I'm so sorry for your father. The quiet is so hard. I remember when you posted Bobby's photo before and thinking he looked like such a sweetheart.

I spoke to my mum and dad on a video call this morning. As soon as Mum past the phone over to Dad be broke down in floods of tears. It's so much more than grieving for Bobby.

There is a lot my dad is going through, most especially he's scared of his own frailty, and my mum's frailty, that now without Bobby there'll be more pressure for them to move. He was saying he should have taken Bobby to the vet on Sunday night rather than Monday morning. Either way Bobby was already really struggling significantly with his arthritis and having difficulty going down the two shallow steps to the grass.
