Yes. We will be four hours away. I will visit, of course and still see Zaba, but our ‘dog swap’ holiday arrangement won‘t happen any more.
We are taking it in turns to go to Germany until we can find new dog sitters we are happy with.

Oh dear, we’ve just had a drama with little Ted.
I saw he had a hankie in his mouth, he’d pinched it from the washer. I did what I usually do and scattered some food. Instead of dropping it he swallowed it and then ate the food. He’s got wise to my ploy - the first pup to do so!
A trip to the vet and he’s chucked it up and we are £86 lighter!
He’s really woozy now.
Butter wouldn’t melt.

That boy keeps coming to visit me! Just yesterday he and Michelle turned up at our door. I guessed it was them by Joy's squeaking. Michelle said that he just pulled her here. We sat in the garden and had a chat and a cup of tea. She was a bit down, missing her mother, who lives in South Africa, but we had a good laugh about Keir and Joy playing and she said she felt better before they left. I wonder if that's why he brings her. He's such a lovely, clever boy.
