Weeeeee! It is very windy today - and 21C! Can you imagine 21C in December? I am so toasty warm!

Hola amigos, we walked a lot and now my leetle feet may be warm , but they are also muy cansados, very tired.

You know what? I remembered being here before, and today at the Colosseum I looked and looked for amiga Miry because we met her here all those years ago. I even found a Señora speaking Spanish and ran up to her with my tail wagging thinking maybe she was Miry. It was not, but I still made a nice Spanish Señora smile with my happy tail.

Also a man with many big cameras around his neck took my photo over and over on Palatine Hill because he thought I was sooooo guapo . La verdad es la verdad, no?

ML had a big nighttime walk planned for this evening, but we are both very tired, so it could be just another Mary Beard historical wee walk instead. I love Mary. ML listens to her programs a lot at night when she cannot sleep, so thanks to Mary, I know a lot about the Romans!

Loving your photos. Wow, you have walked a lot! But that is Rome… We were clocking about 18km per day. (Checks health app: now my average is 3.8km per day. )

Amiga @Jelinga, we do like to go out early in the morning, but mainly ML deploys an editing technique called “We were the ONLY ones there !” To illustrate , she took a couple photos below.

There are lots of people here. Aye carumba , we walked past maybe 200 people waiting to get into the Colosseum yesterday, que locura, what craziness. Everyone we talk to in Italy says that there is not really any low season anymore. La verdad, the truth, is that it is all a little much for us. I love all the nice people who talk to me in so many languages and tell me how guapo I am , but the crowds and cars are a leeetle hard to navigate and keep ML safe on the street. She is a lot of work!

Querida @Jelinga , it is very nice that you have such faith in ML’s editing skills, but it is really MY modelling that makes all the difference ! However if she ever gets around to it, learning some clever editing programs would be muy bueno - after all, that will make me look even better.

Oof, yes! We have been walking 15-20 km a day too! Normally we walk 5-10 km a day in Regensburg and a leeetle more in Cornwall, but this is another level - and I have FOUR feet to hurt me instead of only two!

The main thing however , is the crowds and noise . I love all the nice people who stop me to say hello and give me pets, but when they are doing it in crowded areas with cars wizzing past less than half a meter away, I get worried that ML may get a foot run over if she does not pay attention . It is a lot of work for me, plus looking out for potential modelling opportunities. I keep jumping up on what ML calls “archeological artifacts” because I think I look stunning on them.

ML says it is lucky we are in Italy, because if I tried the same in Germany, they would probably put my handsome posterior in Gefangnis ((jail)!

We went to the Vatican - I got so many pets, including from one nice man who tried to rescue me because he thought I was all on my own standing in the piazza. Which is a leetle odd because ML was taking my picture , but the intention was good .

Compact and bijou, dahling.....

ML note: @Jacqui-S , I now have ‘compact and bijou’ running on permanent repeat in my head as I’m deadly sick of this little room but want to stay POSITIVE. It’s only 4 nights after all, so it really doesn’t matter. However, I wanted to thank you for giving me my Roman theme and something silly and uplifting to do as I swan around my 12m2 accommodation saying “It’s compact and bijou, dahhhhling!” to Señor Carbón.

And tomorrow we go to a three-floor medieval tower with a roof terrace view over Siena so that really WILL be bijou… dahhhhling.
