My sweet girl has nasty gunky ear, we are on day 3 of ear washes and drops. The thing is she showed little sign of it, just a slight head tilt then shook her head after barking which made me start to think we needed a vet's appointment. Later that evening my daughter popped in and greeted Cass with an enthusiastic head/ear rub - and Cass yelped. So off to the vet -- the amount of horrible stuff that came out was unbelievable! At no point did she resist treatment, although it clearly hurt at the end. Even the vet was amazed at her stoicsm!
I felt bad not realising how bad it was, although in my defense there was no redness, swelling or odour, nor has she been scratching the affected ear. She's being very good about having the wash out and drops put in, and I can manage it myself luckily. I am sure my neighbour would assist if need be.
In fact if anything Cass is leaning her ear into my hand and seems to like the massage, as if she'd like my hands to get all the stuff out!
We have a week of treatment, then a check up appointment with the vet.
