Ella, my lumpy bump girl

Miss Ella is 10 years old and is starting to get lumpy and bumpy. She's due for her annual vaccinations so we've decided to have her sedated and get a full check up and needle aspiration of her lumps.

I think there are five lumps - two on her right side, one on her left, one in her belly and one on her jaw. The body ones all feel blobby/squishy/movable but the one on her jaw feels a little more like a marble (but still movable). I'm trying to be brave.

It's hard but mostly they are ok. One of my dogs was more lump than lab. Just learn where they are and how the feel get used to them. Anything dodgy I get removed but mostly you can leave them. If she's going to be sedated get any other jobs done. I've recently had Rory x-rayed while he was under nails too if its hard to get them done. Unfortunately it's part of having labs I hope the beautiful girl is ok.

Oh yep, we're getting her nails done too 🙂. I call them her high heels as she sounds as though she's walking in them across the hard floors 🙄😆

Oh, and we're doing bloods too. We discussed it with the vet and agreed that it's a good option for Ella.

She needed a LOT of sedation and then a dose of Ketamine on top as she was still fighting the effects. They asked me to stay while she was sedated so I spent the best part of an hour lying on the vet floor, in the dark, cuddling Ella to help her calm down and allow the meds to kick in.

They got everything done - vaccinations, nails, blood test, checked teeth and fine needle aspiration on 4 lumps. I thought there were 5 but it turns out the last was her nipple..... Yep, I did a @Jen :happy:

Bloods were really good and gums really good too. Teeth look good but the very back ones have a little tartar. 26kgs too, so a good weight.

3 of the 4 lumps look like fatty limpomas. The 4th isn't as positive. As I mentioned above, the one on her jaw is different, like a pea sized harder lump. The vet's preliminary thoughts are that it may be a soft tissue sarcoma. The sample, along with the others (it's the same price for 1-6 samples so may as well send all) was sent off and we should get the result in the next couple of days.

The positive is that the lump is still small so hopefully easier to remove. We need to wait and see what grade it is though.

For now, I have cuddles with my stoned girl whole she sleeps off the drugs.

Glad everything ended up going well and everything got done! Very optimistic that it is very small right now if it ends up being what is suspected. Give Ella a good cuddle from me and Hugo sends lots of kisses :hug:
