Don't think her kibble should have gone off, but she enjoyed her Kong and has happily eaten tuna and rice, so that might be it.Still doesn't explain why she refused her walk though. Perhaps she was just tired of getting wet.She's asleep at my feet now and seems fine.

The vet had said that there was a possibility that it could flair up again and it did, briefly, but I recognised the signs, took her straight back and she was given another month on antibiotics. This has been different, as I explained to the vet. When it's her mouth she'll usually eat, but not directly from my hand. This time she's been taking treats from me, but not eaten her normal tea from her bowl. However, she's now had her Kong, containing her usual kibble, along with yogurt and banana and has eaten tuna and rice and has been out for a wee and appears totally normal. I, in the meantime have been worried, ringing vets, texting friends, posting on here, lacking in appetite, checking her obs. hourly and have only had half a glass of wine incase we need a dash to the vet. Joy is now happily snoring in bed, having had extra treats, special tea and loads of fuss. I have now poured myself a full glass of wine and am wondering if perhaps I might be becoming a Monkey Butler!:facepalm::cwl:

I read somewhere about a dog refusing to eat from his stainless steel bowl. The thought being it was the reflection and shine. They were recommended a ceramic bowl, which sorted things out. Did I read it here?

Not sure how this relates to her refusal to walk. But it’s a thought.

Hope Joy is back to normal soon.

Hmm. Think I may have worked out what happened with Joy and her food and the Monkey Butler theory isn't far wrong. With her having antibiotics added into her food for a month, she started to leave the tablets at the bottom of her bowl. Determined that she was going to have them all, for the past month I have added other more enticing things to her usual kibble, gravy, grated cheese, mashed potato..... anything really to make sure she finished it all. Well, the last day of tablets was on Wednesday, so by Saturday, when she wouldn't eat her kibble she was on day 3 of being back to normal and probably less interesting food. I think there was a bit of a protest going on there and of course it worked because she got tuna and rice instead! The next morning she wouldn't eat her breakfast until I had finished mine, then I think hunger must have got the better of her and she ate it all. Then I started thinking that it's perhaps a bit sad for her to always have plain old boring kibble, so now she's getting other stuff mixed in with it again. Yet again she has trained me well! Both Joy and Tess were fine the next day and in the evening Tess's Dad and I went to a Carols and Brass concert, where, no doubt emboldened by a glass of wine in the interval, we sang 'Dog rest ye merry Labradors' and 'Tidings of Tess Tess Tess and Joy'. I think we got a few funny looks.:$

After your care of Moo, I now think of "Monkey Butler" as the highest compliment for dog carers, especially during tough times. I do hope to achieve Monkey Butler levels of patience, caring and a wicked sense of humour some day.
