Muck Boots Wellie Review

I thought it might be useful to write a review on my recent Muck Boot Wellie purchase for other members which you might find useful. I know a few of us ordered wellies in their last sale.

Negatives

1. Too short, they only come half way up my calf even though I bought their "Tall" boots, I find this very uncomfortable.
2. They eat my socks!
3. The "grip" is awful, I nearly slipped over several times in Scotland walking on the flat in the forest.

Positives

1. I only paid £32 instead of £80 but or me a waste of £32.
2. They keep my feet warm as toast.

Would I buy them again - absolutely NOT.

My muck boots stop me falling by being extremely grippy . I don't fall even if I'm in deep sticky mud and sliding has been cut to a minimum. They don't leak and keep my feet toasty and they are lasting well. My socks are fine and stay put and the calf length is fine. Ive done a lot of trouble free miles in them and have been very happy with them. I would buy another pair and although they are expensive I think they are worth it.
I got the muck masters at Holly's dad's suggestion and am considering another pair. I will probably go for a short pair. What type did you buy ?

I have these.

They aren’t a well known make but I’ve had them four years, they are totally waterproof and they have good grip - no sock eating either. They are furry and warm inside.

Ive got a pair of these I use them for hydrotherapy but I wouldn't like to do the miles boots I do in the muck boots in them. They just aren't as comfy

I have two pairs of muck boots and I love them both although one pair, the Arctic sport, has a far better grip than the other.

I find the Arctic pair so comfortable, the fit is perfect and they are really warm. Both pairs eat my socks though and it’s infuriating.

Both pairs are mid calf length which I much prefer.

The hale boots have the same sole as my other pair and I agree the grip is poor so I don’t feel confident when it’s very muddy.

I got both pairs much reduced and would definitely buy another pair with the same sole as the Arctic and if reduced.

I do too and wouldn't have any other kind.

I bought my wellies from a local country supplies shop last year, I was on the brink of ordering some Muck boots as a result of the Forum discussion when I saw them, they are Grubbs. They are much like Muck boots, but at £70 full price rather cheaper.
I am extremely pleased with them so far, very comfortable and incredibly warm, even in the intense cold we had last winter my feet stayed toasty and cosy in only ordinary socks which stayed in place! A far cry from the old days of having to wear extra socks inside your wellies and your feet still got cold!
I can't comment on their longevity, they are just starting their second season!

I’ve often wondered about these @Boogie, I really like the look of them. Do you find they are true to size on fit?

Yes, I take size five and mine are a five - I’d get a size up if you wear thick socks ‘tho

I just replaced my Sorel Joan of Arctics. My old ones have done three winters and would probably go a fourth but the sole is starting to wear through a bit, so I’m retiring them to life in Spain. Delighted to find that the replacement ones actually fit! The previous pair (same size) were always far too big for me. I guess they’ve altered the fit a bit in the interim years. I love them; they are toasty warm, even for my Raynaud’s toes and even in ski resort conditions. I very rarely feel cold toes in them. The rubber foot means they are totally waterproof in the slush and I can use chains or studs with them in the ice without worrying about damaging the boot.
They are pretty Teflon and nothing sticks to the suede upper; they still look really good after all this time. The laces are probably less ideal in the mud, although I have to say I’ve not had a problem with them here, and we do get mud here in Spain at this time of year.

@Charlie, I don't know if you do this, but if wellies 'eat socks' I always tuck my trousers into my socks, even the little ankle ones, and then they stay on.

I came out in a cold sweat when I read this first post as I am getting an expensive pair of muck boots for Christmas (what an exciting life us dog walkers lead). But the other posts made me feel better again - hooray! I can't wait to get mine as my current wellies are cold and have barely any sole.

I love my Muck Boots and they definitely keep my feet all toasty! I’ve got the Artic Sport and the grip is fine when it gets muddy. Pepper’s Mum has a different version and they’re warm but the grip isn’t as good in really muddy conditions.

Me too, got worried as I am also getting a pair for Christmas in preparation for all the walking when the pup can go out

My OH brought me my muck boots 2 years ago and i wouldn’t be without them. I’m only 5ft 2” but the tall ones fit perfectly. I walk in streams, through deep mud and have never had a wet foot or slipped over in them. The grip on mine are really good and they are so comfy. I need supportive, padded boots due to spinal injuries and these fit the bill for me in every way.
